This footage shows a man attempting to cross a busy junction when he is hit by a turning car before a law-abiding dog outdoes him by using a zebra crossing right next to him.
The traffic camera footage was captured at a crossroads in the city of Taicang, which is in China’s eastern Jiangsu Province, on 7th September.
The video shows the unnamed pedestrian attempting to traverse the crossroads diagonally without using pedestrian road markings, which is prohibited in China and a punishable offence.
As he steps off the kerb onto the asphalt, he is struck from behind by a turning red car driven by a pensioner.
In the footage, the pedestrian is sent tumbling and is left rolling around on the ground in obvious pain.
Meanwhile, the pooch which witnesses the accident walks up to the zebra crossing on the opposite side of the street.
The clip shows the law-abiding dog waiting for a scooter to turn before strutting to the other side of the same road using the zebra crossing.
Social media users have called the scenes “ironic”, saying even the pooch had a better understand of Chinese traffic laws than the injured pedestrian.
Taicang police said they were still investigating the case and had yet to determine liability for the accident.
However, the pedestrian and the red car driver are expected to share equal blame.
