This is the moment a man at a polo tournament is knocked out cold after walking behind a horse and touching its bum causing the mighty steed to kick him square in the face.

The incident took place on Monday during the Cup Andres Gazzott polo tournament at the Tortugas Country Club located in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital.

In the video, a man identified as Matias Seltzer, 21, can be seen walking on the pitches of the club and he strolls towards a horse being held by his father Oscar Seltzer, 55 who was celebrating his birthday.

Matias walks behind the horse and gives it a gentle slap on its rear. The animal responds with a huge kick, sending Matias crashing to the ground and leaving him motionless on the grass.

Local newspaper La Nacion report the horse kicked him in the face near an eye. In the video his father can be seen trying to reanimate him and reports say Matias took 22 seconds to show vital signs after the kick.

He can then be seen moving his arm as his dad holds his face before an ambulance arrives. The paramedics attend to him and local media report was taken to the Los Arcos clinic, located around 30 kilometres from the club.

He is said to have only suffered minor injuries as the horse had not hit him with its iron shoe and he was discharged the day after he was admitted into the clinic.

La Nacion report the horse is normally docile. Matias reportedly helps his father out at every polo match at the club.
