Cops in the Brit tourist hot spot of Bali have collared two Polish nationals for allegedly trying to carry out an ATM skimming scam on the paradise isle.

The suspects were reportedly apprehending while attaching an illegal device to an ATM in the tourist hot spot.

The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Lachowski Dawid Przemyslaw and 35-year-old Wojcik Gawel Amadeusz, were reportedly arrested in the hugely Candi dasa area, which houses the east of the island’s most popular beach.

“[One of] the suspects turned off the ATM machine to install a router, which is used to steal data from the bank’s customers,” Bali police representative Yuliar Kus Nugroho told local media.

The arrests came after bank officials told cops about suspicious activity at one of their cash machines.

The news caused cops to mount a surveillance op and the pair were collared while
allegedly attempting to retrieve data from the ATM.

Yuliar Kus Nugroho told local media: “One of them entered the ATM booth and turned it off by pulling the power plug and tried to install another device, while the other stood guard at the front.”

The suspects could face up to 10 years behind bars if convicted.

Bali is a hugely popular destination for British and other tourists each year.
