This is the heartwarming moment police officers in the US who were called for noise disturbance by kids playing on the street turned up and instead of telling them off, joined in on their game instead.

The footage was captured in the city of Shaker Heights in the north-eastern state of Ohio in the United States.

Various videos were filmed by Wendy Brown, the mother of four children, who were part of a group of children playing American Football outside.

She told local media: “We encourage them to go outside and just be kids, so they were just playing football out in the street like they do any other time.

According to the children’s mother, the police were called by an unknown neighbour about noise disturbance, but when the three officers arrived, far from telling them to stop, they joined in on the game.

Wendy posted videos of the officers playing on social media saying: “A #Karen called the police on my kids for playing football in the street. The @shakerpolicedepartment pulled up and joined in on the game. Thank you for letting the kids be kids!”

One video shows two of the officers running for the ball and both falling over laughing as they try to catch it.

Another video shows one of the officers marking the other as he runs for the ball which one of the children throw to him.

Wendy said: “I don’t know the cop’s name, but he came to me and said ‘I don’t know who would do it, but someone called police on the kids, they said they were playing in the street so we came by.’ And he said ‘we used to play in the street as kids.’”

The video, which received over 18 thousand likes, also attracted many admiring comments from social media users applauding the attitude of the officers.

One netizen wrote: “love seeing this”, whilst another user commented: “I wish every police officer were like them.”
