Police Beat Demonstrator Who Set Himself On Fire

This is the horrifying moment when an anti-hijab protester sets himself on fire and is then beaten by Iranian security police.

Mohammadreza Ferdoosi, 24, torched himself as he shouted anti-regime slogans outside the Qarchak Mosque in Qarchak Varamin near Tehran.

Despite suffering agonising 70% burns he survived – only to be beaten senseless by police.

And now Ferdoosi. who had been recovering at Tehran’s Motahari Hospital, has died, according to independent local media.

It was also revealed that his family are being questioned by security officials and put under pressure to say he botched a plot to throw a firebomb from his car.

In the days before his protest, Ferdoosi complained of harassment from the security forces for supporting the demonstrations.

In an Instagram post before he was injured had said: “Hope for better days” and “I love you people.”

Since the beginning of nationwide protests in Iran over the death of Mahsa Amini, after she was arrested by morality police for failing to wear a hijab properly, over 300 people have died including 41 children and two dozen women.

Security agents have summoned and interrogated and arrested a number of doctors, political activists, workers, teachers, university professors, lawyers, artists, students, and many others.
