Cops have arrested a man after his policewoman girlfriend died after being shot in the genital area.

Police officer Natalia Natividad Guamantes, aged 24, died after being shot in the vagina at her home in the city of Trujui in Argentina’s Buenos Aires Province at around 8 pm on 20th June.

Police officers were called to the scene and preventively detained her boyfriend, 22-year-old Cirilo Benjamin Garcia, who has protested his innocence.

He told the officers that his partner tried to place her pistol on top of the wardrobe in their bedroom when it accidentally fell to the ground and went off.

He said the incident happened just as he arrived back home from the shops and that he was in the kitchen when he heard the gunshot.

He told the officers that he went to the bedroom, where his injured partner told him what had happened before she passed out.

The injured woman had just finished work when the incident took place and she was still half-dressed in her police uniform.

She was taken to hospital, where she died before she could receive treatment.

The couple had known each other for six years and had been living together since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The police’s suspicion is that the man shot his girlfriend and then tried to pass it off as a tragic accident.

A number of the couple’s acquaintances told the police during questioning that the pair’s relationship was violent.

However, investigators found a broken ceramic floor tile next to the wardrobe, which could have been caused by the impact of the falling gun, which supports the suspect’s version of events.

The case has been registered as aggravated homicide and the investigation is ongoing.
