This is the shocking moment a Brazilian cop suffers a “psychotic breakdown” and shoots at random customers in a petrol station store, killing one and injuring three others.
The incident was filmed in the city of Curitiba in the Brazilian state of Parana at around 11.45 pm on 1st May.
According to local reports, the officer, named as Ronaldo Massuia Silva, 43, became embroiled in a heated row with a staff member and a security guard over a parking space.
The argument turned violent and customers tried to break up the row and direct the angry cop out of the store.
He reportedly left the shop, but returned moments later, gun blazing.
The cop’s lawyer said he suffered a “psychotic breakdown” caused by a long battle with depression.
The footage shows the officer shooting directly at shocked customers as they try to scramble away in fear.
He apparently shoots multiple victims several times at close range before calmly sauntering out of the shop.
Massuia Silva has been placed under arrest and prosecutors are asking for him to be kept in preventive detention as the aggravated murder investigation continues.
According to the authorities, the Federal Police officer showed signs of intoxication and fired at least 10 times at the store entrance while driving an unmarked cop car.
After entering the shop and shooting at customers, one man, identified as photographer Andre Muniz Fritoli, 32, died on the way to hospital of his gunshot wounds.
Two other men, aged 43 and 24, were shot and hospitalised. Meanwhile, a 30-year-old woman was struck three times in the chest, leg and abdomen, according to reports.
The three injured victims are all said to be in a stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
