This is the moment a cruel teenage girl is filmed pluck a live pigeon on a park bench before repeatedly hitting the bird against the wood and taking photos with it.

The disturbing incident took place in the city of Krasnoturyinsk in the western Russian region of Sverdlovsk Oblast where the 15-year-old girl was filmed sitting with the pigeon in her hands alongside her 12-year-old friend.

In the video, the elder girl can be seen plucking the pigeon’s feathers before she begins hitting the bird against the bench and rubbing it along the wood in an apparent attempt to remove more feathers.

A voice off-camera says: “Look at these animals. They are plucking it alive. First they fed it, then caught it and now they are mistreating it, beasts.”

The girl then poses with the pigeon as her friend takes photos on her mobile phone.

Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Sverdlovsk Oblast, Igor Morokov, 62, reported that they will look into the case, saying: “We need to figure it out, go to the parents. We need to understand the reasons and conditions of why this happened.”

The elder girl reportedly defended her actions on social media, writing: “I don’t think that I did anything very bad. The pigeon is alive.”

A police investigation into the incident has been launched.

Netizen ‘Denis Cherny’ said: “Can you imagine what kind of b*stards these animals will give birth to?! This is the end for the country.”
