A stunning reality star and Playboy model who earlier this year called for prostitution to be made legal in her home country to protect sex workers is to run for president.

The Croatian starlet announced her candidacy for next January’s presidential bid with a series of saucy snaps that she posted form a beach in Italy where she is on holiday.

The Croatian presidential elections are due to take place next year where current the independent President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, 51, also a woman, will be running for re-election to a second five-year term.

But now Ava Karabatic, the 31-year old starlet from Croatia, is also in the running telling her Instagram followers: “I have decided I will run for president.

“I have been given so many support messages on Instagram and I thank you for that.

“Politics is my second love. I can not longer watch bad things happen to my country.

“It is like everyone is blind with healthy eyes, our young people leave the country, birth rates fall.

“I know I am going to have a lot of comments from trolls because I am a starlet, but that ignores my intellectual side where I am professor of Italian language and Roman literature.

“I wrote an autobiography, a novel, starred in a film that has been in the cinema for months, and in addition to acting, I became a painter too.

“Of course, my artistic abilities are not important, my new regime is, Ava’s regime is important.”

She underlined her campaign bid with the saucy snaps from the beach in Pescara, Italy, where she is on a vacation, that included pics where she is wearing a thong in the sea.

In one of the photos she is turned back showing her backside and wears a hat but little else.

Online commentator ‘ Marijav209.’ said: “You think you will become president like that?”

But others were more supportive like ‘aleksandarciro’ who added: “Ava the president, commented aleksandarciro.”

Earlier in the year Ava said she wanted to legalise prostitution and that both customers and the state would benefit – as prostitutes would end up paying taxes.

She has even hired a lawyer to draft a proposal and get the ball rolling.

She said: “There are also psychological reasons, such as ‘healing’ the sexual frustrations that exist in our country.

“Prostitution should be legalised for economic reasons as well, so that the state can profit from payment of taxes.

“Also, I have studied medicine and am very aware of dangers of STDs, which can be avoided if prostitution becomes a legal profession.”
