This footage shows a drunk woman being restrained on a Russian flight after being told she would be dumped in Iran after an emergency landing if she did not stop hitting people with her handbag.

The incident occurred on a Pegas Fly flight from the city of Ufa in western Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates when the woman, whose name has not been reported, is said to have got drunk.

Witnesses claim the woman initially began singing songs and then dancing shortly after takeoff.

However, after other passengers complained about her behaviour she reportedly flew into a rage, allegedly hitting the people around her with a handbag and trying to keep the flight attendants away.

Local media report that 40 minutes into the flight the air crew warned the woman that they would have to make an emergency landing in Iran and would get rid of her there if she did not calm down.

It was then decided to bind the woman’s hands with tape in an attempt to continue the flight in peace and quiet.

In the video she can be seen having her hands bound by members of the flight crew and what appear to be other passengers.

Reports state she then passed out in the aisle of the plane and did not cause any further disturbances.

She was reportedly sent to a local police station after the plane landed in Dubai. Local media report she will now have to pay an unspecified fine and is likely to be sentenced to carry out correctional labour.
