This is the moment a pit bull latches onto the leg of a teenage boy and refuses to let go of the bloody limb as dozens of villagers repeatedly whack it with sticks.
The incident was filmed in the city of Jalandhar in the northern Indian state of Punjab on 28th January, and the footage was later posted on Twitter where it has been widely shared.
In the black and white CCTV footage, the unnamed 15-year-old teen is seen arriving home on his bike just as a dog suddenly attacks.
The boy tries to kick the aggressive pit bull away, but it latches onto his leg and won’t let go.
The youngster is seen in pain as locals arrive to repeatedly hit the dog with sticks and throw water over the animal in an attempt to make it let go of the teen’s leg.
According to local media, Laksh Uppal was returning home on his bike after class when the dangerous dog attacked.
The incident lasted for several minutes and the young victim was hospitalised with injuries to both legs, according to local media.
The boy’s parents have reportedly filed a complaint with the police.
It is unclear who owns the pit bull and what has happened to it since the reported attack.
The investigation is ongoing.
