This pit bull has become the latest member of a Mexican police force after local cops found it tied up and abandoned in a ditch.

The abandoned dog, affectionately named Tyson by his rescuers, was found in a wastewater ditch in the municipality of Tecamac located in the Mexican state of Mexico last week.

The local police and animal control went to the area after they were contacted by a person who lived nearby. They found the pit bull in a ditch, with a rope tied around its entire body.

Tyson, who was given that name for his physical appearance, was taken to a veterinarian for checks.

Local mayor Mariela Gutierrez told local media: “Everything seems to indicate he [Tyson] will be incorporated into the police K9 unit. They are evaluating him, he is a very noble and kind dog in perfect health.”

The mayor added that the authorities have rescued 46 animals that were abused, malnourished, or abandoned in the last six months.
