This is the moment people laugh and film but do not get involved as a passenger struggles to force a suspected pickpocket back onto the bus and then makes him hand back stolen cash.

The incident was filmed in the northern Serbian capital Belgrade after the angry passenger realised his cash was missing, and quickly identified the man he believed to be responsible.

In the footage, the angry passenger is seen stopping the chubby suspect from leaving the bus while yelling at him to return his cash.

At one point, the older man appears to hand back some banknotes to the aggrieved passenger, and after witnessing the return of the apparently stolen cash, only then do other people get involved.

At the end of the video, several bystanders are seen pulling the suspect back into the bus as the row continues inside.

Netizen ‘StarvinMarvin76’ commented: “It’s a shame that a woman had to come to the man’s help first.”

‘Cold2’ said: “Look at everyone else on the bus. Passive observers.”

‘LovraV’ wrote: “Just let the victim chase the guy and sort it out. Shame what we have become.”

According to local media, some netizens recognised the suspect and said that he has been spotted pick-pocketing on buses in the capital city before.

It is currently unclear whether the local authorities are looking into the matter.
