Passengers Taken In Ambulance From Edinburgh Flight

Two passengers on board a flight from Edinburgh to Malta suffered medical problems and were taken to hospital upon landing with one of them having a history of respiratory problems.

Reports state the passengers were on-board Ryanair flight FR 6695 from Edinburgh to Malta International Airport when a medical occurrence was reported.

An ambulance was called to the plane once it landed and the two ill passengers were disembarked 30 minutes later.

The pair, who have not been identified, were taken to Mater Dei Hospital in the town of Msida and one them has now been discharged.

The other patient reportedly has a history of respiratory problems and has been kept under observation. Reports state the patient will undergo a series of tests, which could include the test for COVID-19.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in Malta told local newspaper Times of Malta: “Because of the present situation, everyone is being asked to fill in a passenger locator forms in case there is a need for them to be traced.”

Whilst a spokesperson for Malta International Airport said: “The established precautionary measures are being taken by the local health authorities so as to ensure everyone’s safety.”

Prime Minister Robert Abela and Health Minister Chris Fearne confirmed the pair had been taken to hospital but provided no further details.

No further details on what exactly the medical occurrence was were provided.

Malta has suffered six confirmed cases of COVID-19 with no deaths reported.
