This is the moment a quick-thinking bus passenger grabs the wheel and drives a bus to safety after the driver suffered a massive heart attack.

The incident was filmed by an on-board bus camera in the district of Korfez located in the north-western Turkish province of Kocaeli and posted on social media.

In the clip, the bus driver is seen slowly slumping forwards as the passenger next to him in a blue shirt instinctively grabs the wheel.

The brave passenger manages to bring the bus under control and he slows to a safe stop before assisting the unconscious driver.

According to local media, the bus was being driven by father-of-seven Sehabettin Enec and passenger Ibrahim Ekinci was sitting next to him in a spare seat when the accident happened.

Enec, who has been a bus driver for 15 years, reportedly suffered a heart attack at the wheel and Ekinci, who works as a security guard and was on his way to work at the time, quickly brought the vehicle under control.

Ekinci asked the other passengers to call the emergency services before several men helped him to remove Enec from the driver’s seat.

According to local media, Enec was taken to the Derince Research and Training Hospital, but doctors could do nothing to save the bus driver.

His funeral has already taken place, according to reports.
