This viral video seen over 3 million times shows an unruly passenger repeatedly punching a bus driver and then kicking the front door after his request to get off early was reportedly denied.

Video from the city of Yixing in East China’s Jiangsu Province shows the suspect, surnamed Geng, later attempting to escape through a window but being held by another passenger.

The bizarre incident happened on a route 239 bus on 1st September.

Bus driver Mr Qu, who was hospitalised with minor injuries, said: “We were between two stops when he stood up and said he’d arrived and wanted me to stop so he could get off.

“I said I wasn’t allowed to, but we were nearly at the next stop.”

Geng, however, was apparently not willing to accept Mr Qu’s explanation, and CCTV video from the bus shows him punching the driver 10 times before turning his attention on the front door.

He then repeatedly kicks the door but is unable to break it in order to get off, the video shows.

The clip ends with Geng finally attempting to escape through an open window, but another passenger grabs him by the leg and prevents him from getting away.

Mr Qu said he was able to stop the bus by the roadside before he was attacked, thankfully avoiding a crash.

His passengers helped restrain Geng until the police arrived and arrested him.

Geng remains in custody on public order charges, while Mr Qu, who was reportedly also hit with a fire extinguisher, was hospitalised with minor facial injuries.
