Parents Arrested Trying To Sell Baby To Online Buyer

The parents of a new-born baby have been arrested after claiming the baby that they planned to sell to a women they met online had been stolen when in fact the child was snatched by the buyer after they tried to cancel the deal.

Parents Daiana Fazio, 26, and Gustavo Ugarte, 46, allegedly agreed to sell their new-born daughter to the online contact Carolina Bakker, 46, and arranged to meet her in a square near a bus station in the city of Carlos Spegazzini in the Buenos Aires province in the north-eastern part of Argentina.

But when they tried to change their mind the child was snatched by Baaker and a driver and the couple then called in the cops.

The couple claimed that they had met Bakker chatting online and they had invited her to meet their new daughter, and she had stolen then her and driven off in a white Chevrolet Trucker SUV with tinted windows.

However, the police quizzed both partners separately and they discovered their stories were contradictory and later the mother confessed they had sold the baby girl, but that she then changed her mind.

Local authorities then tracked down the SUV driver in the city of Villa Carlos Paz who had been hired to take Bakker to the meeting in Carlos Spegazzini. The woman gave the agents Bakker’s address in the municipality of Villa Gardino and she was arrested.

Local media reported the police found the baby girl dressed with the same cloth that she wore when she had been taken away from her parents as well as her birth certificate.

The parents Fazio and Ugarte are under police custody. Beaker is also under police custody. Both are accused of conspiring to hide the youngsters identity to make it seem the child belonged to Baaker. The SUV driver was released but is still being investigated.

The baby girl was in a good health condition and the Secretary of Childhood, Adolescence and Family of Córdoba (SENAF) has ordered her placed with a foster family which will take care of her temporarily until a tribunal decides her fate.
