This is the moment paramedics in Russia drag a patient along the asphalt after refusing to give him a stretcher and saying “stretchers are for the sick, but this one is drunk and dirty.”

The scene took place in the southern Russian city of Berezniki in Perm Krai where citizens witnessed paramedics carrying a man on asphalt towards the ambulance.

The clip shows the man lying on the ground as several paramedics try to get him up on his feet. When this failed, they started carrying the man along the asphalt towards the ambulance, holding him by his hands and legs.

Passersby were shocked at the scene and when the medics tried to put the man in the back of the ambulance, a voice-off camera can be heard asking: “Why are you dragging him like this? Why don’t you use stretchers?” to which one of the paramedics answered: “Stretchers are for the sick, but this one is drunk and dirty.”

Svetlana Andreeva, the official spokesperson of the Perm Krai department of the Russian Ministry of Health said they are currently investigating the case.

Netizens were quick to comment following the scene.

Netizen named ‘Francesca Totti’ said: “These people should not work in medical institutions.”

Another internet user ‘Liubov Galeeva’ said: “No matter whether he was drunk or not, they had to put him on a stretcher.”
