A porn website in Japan crashed hours after announcing it had released 200 free films for users to help them make it through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Japanese adult video producer Soft on Demand (SOD) released 200 of its titles for free to users from 13th March until 31st March as a large number of the population are staying at home to stop the spread of COVID-19.

However, local media report hours after the announcement the site crashed seemingly from a huge spike in visitors overwhelming the servers.

The site is now back up and running, with users having to register as a member before being able to download the 200 films for 0 JPY.

Local media report SOD said the first 200 people who downloaded a free film would receive the company’s masturbation aid called a ‘Basara’, which was designed to look like a plastic drinks bottle.
