This is the moment two women on scooters have a light collision and are then buried in sand when a lorry overturns while trying to avoid them.

The accident was captured on CCTV in the town of Yatan in Wangjiang County in China’s eastern Anhui Province on 7th May.

The video shows the two scooter bumping each other at a small junction despite both women appearing to be driving slowly.

Their scooters hit lightly into one another, and both fall off their vehicles onto the road just as the fully loaded tipper lorry approaches.

The lorry driver swerves to the left in a bid to avoid the two fallen riders, but the vehicle loses balance and overturns, crushing one of the women and burying both in sand.

Footage taken in the aftermath shows local villagers and police digging through the sand for the crushed victim, while the second rider appears to be unconscious from shock.

The first victim and her crushed scooter are later revealed when the lorry is righted using an excavator.

Local village official Chen Zhonglin confirmed that one of the women had died during the accident, while the other was injured and is still receiving treatment.

Authorities still investigating the case have said neither women appeared to slow down at the junction, causing the collision.

Enquiries are still ongoing.
