Over 150 Locals Show Up Following Viral Facebook Post After Friends And Family Were No Show At Girls 15th Birthday Party

A teenage girl was heartbroken when her friends and family snubbed her 15th birthday party, but a quick thinking organiser posted about it on Facebook and over 150 people showed up to the event, which had originally been planned for 100.

The teenage girl, who has been named only as Jessica, was celebrating her “quinceanera”, her 15th birthday, which in Mexico is a big celebration because it marks the passage from being a girl to becoming a woman.

The incident took place in Tampico, which is a city in the state of Tamaulipas, in north-eastern Mexico.

Jessica had decorated the room, picked out her dress, and had her parents by her side. There was also music, but only 10 people showed up despite them having invited 100 people.

Jessica was heartbroken at the snub, as she could see that the party was not going to turn out the way that she had expected it would.

Her mother, who has not been named, consoled her and told her that it would still be a celebration that she would later remember.

One of the organisers reportedly heard this and came up with the idea of creating a post on Facebook, explaining what had happened and asking people to help fix the problem.

Netizen ‘Medina Yuli’ wrote on Facebook: “Girls and boys, a favour. We are inviting you to Jessica’s quinceanera party, she’s very sad, no one showed up… Come and have fun, your presence will make a girl happy!”

The post quickly went viral on the social network, according to local media reports, and pretty soon, people started showing up at the party.

Most of the people attending were residents in the area but they were also reportedly joined by singers, comedians and local shop owners who wanted to give the birthday girl a present on her big day.

The party turned out to be more than even Jessica and her family had hoped for. They had one DJ who was expected to play music, but the DJ was quickly superseded by the live bands and stand-up comedians who showed up.

In total, 150 people showed up to the party that had been planned for 100 people, according to local media.
