Outrage As Youngsters Party In Majorca Nightclub Without Masks Or Distancing

This is the moment youngsters enjoy a night out in a Majorca nightclub without wearing masks or social distancing, sparking outrage online.

The incident was filmed at the BCM nightclub in the popular resort town of Magaluf in the Spanish island of Majorca on the night of 25th December.

Radio producer Joan Guasp Giner posted the clip on Twitter with the message: “This evening at @bcmmallorca. No masks, no distancing, no respect for public health… Of course, while you walk alone down the street in a mask like an idiot…”

The footage shows youngsters enjoying themselves in the crammed club without maintaining a safe distance and not wearing face masks.

At the moment, local nightclubs are required to ask for a customer’s COVID vaccine pass and capacity should be limited to 60 percent. Also, clients can only remove their masks at the moment of consumption.

The BCM club reopened on 23rd December after being refurbished. On the day of its reopening, it informed club goers that they needed to present their COVID certificate, a negative PCR test within 72 hours, or a negative antigen test within 48 hours upon arrival.

The Balearic Islands are at a very high risk due to the spread of COVID-19, with an incidence rate of 914 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Javier Arranz, spokesman for the Infectious Diseases Management Committee, called the images in the Magaluf nightclub “selfish and deplorable”. Health Minister Patricia Gomez slammed them as “regrettable and intolerable”.

The regional government has confirmed that the nightclub will be investigated and that the latest set of rules needs to be followed to prevent the risk of spread of the new variant.
