Outrage After Influencer Poses In Hijab And Lingerie Outside Mosque

This is the moment an influencer poses in a hijab and saucy black lingerie outside a Russian mosque, sparking outrage and prompting the photographer to apologise to devotees.

Maria Katanova, a targetologist who creates online marketing campaigns for clients, reportedly organised the photoshoot outside the Moscow Cathedral Mosque in the Russian capital Moscow.

In the footage, Katanova is seen photographing an unnamed influencer in black lingerie outside the mosque who appears to be wearing a hijab.

Following the online backlash to the photoshoot, Katanova apologised to Muslim devotees and pointed out that the campaign involves a number of different models posing outside religious buildings.

She wrote on Instagram: “I did not have any intention of hurting the feelings of worshippers.”

“The aim was just the opposite, to prevent this wave of hype, which began with photoshoots of half-naked influencers against the backdrop of religious buildings.

“I regret that the video ended up on the Internet with a different meaning.”

Lawyer Alexandra Gudimenko said Katanova could face a fine under section 2 of article 148 of the Criminal Code if prosecuted.

When asked if Katanova should face prosecution for her involvement in the photoshoot, MP Anatoly Wasserman said: “I would not want to see that. I would, of course, prefer that there is an opportunity to reason with such people. Unfortunately, it’s too late for older children to be spanked for their stupidity.”

Naila Ziganshina, head of the Union of Muslim Women of Russia, said she does not know if Katanova’s “brain worked properly” and that the photoshoot was only set up to “attract attention”.

It is unclear if a police investigation has been launched into the incident.
