This is the moment Canadian influencers and TV personalities party on a chartered flight between Montreal and Cancun in Mexico without face masks and distancing, sparking outrage on social media.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “very frustrated” to learn of the incident and called it “a slap in the face”.

The party was staged on a Sunwing flight on 30th December and involved a group of online influencers and Canadian celebrities.

Footage shows the group mingling in close proximity to each other while boozing and not wearing face masks. At least one woman is seen vaping on the flight as well.

The Canadian authorities have opened an investigation into the incident, which took place on a flight from Montreal to Cancun.

PM Justin Trudeau said on Wednesday that the incident has left him “very frustrated” and that they put cabin crew “in danger”.

He added that the passengers were social media “influencers” and participants of “reality TV” shows, adding that it was a “slap in the face”.

James William Awad, the owner of the firm that chartered the plane, denied that any COVID-19 rules were broken, calling it “a simple party on a plane”, but also asking for more time to look into the matter.

However, Sunwing reported the incident to the Canadian Ministry of Transportation and called the passengers’ behaviour “anarchic”.

The company reportedly cancelled the group’s return flight and other Canadian airlines declined to fly them back from Cancun as well.

The investigation continues.
