This is the shocking moment when a man leaps from the pavement on to the road to get out of the way of a barking dog – and is hit by a lorry instead.

The incident took place in the evening in the district of Buyukcekmece in the north-western Turkish province of Istanbul on 28th June.

According to the news website Habermotto’s report, Ekrem Binak, age not disclosed, was scared by a stray dog that suddenly started barking at him while he was walking on the pavement.

Trying to get out of the dog’s reach, he suddenly jumped onto the road. At that moment, a truck passing by at high speed hit Ekrem and knocked him flying.

The moment the accident happened was recorded by the security camera of a nearby building.

Ekrem, who was seriously injured, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

After the incident, the unidentified truck driver was detained and taken into custody although eye witness testimony and the CCTV images appear to indicate that he is unlikely to be prosecuted.

According to the report of the news website Haberler, the unidentified truck driver was released after his statement was taken.

There is no information about Ekrem’s latest health status.
