This is the shocking moment an oil refinery worker is killed by a long sheet of metal after the excavator moving it suddenly drops it on top of him pinning him to the ground.

The shocking accident took place at a Transneft Siberia oil field near the city of Nizhnevartovsk in the central Russian region of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, and was filmed by a dash cam set up in one of the site’s vehicles.

Footage shows a thin sheet of metal being transported from one side of a road to the other as two workers supervise.

When the large sheet is lowered to the ground, the victim turns his back and starts to walk away.

However, the metal sheet is suddenly dropped by the excavator and it begins to topple forwards.

The worker turns just as the huge object flattens him.

According to reports, company officials have said that the employee’s death was caused by his negligence of safety rules.

Meanwhile, Transneft Siberia communications officer Mikhail Melnikov confirmed that the company is investigating the matter.

The Samotlor Field near Nizhnevartovsk is the largest oil field in Russia and the sixth-largest in the world.

Netizen ‘Akhmed iz Magasa’ said: “Those guys are idiots. Out of the blue, they brought horror to someone’s family. This is what happens when companies hire alcoholics and morons.”

‘Khmao’ commented: “My condolences to the family of the dead worker.”

While ‘Oleg’ wrote: “I hope company bosses fire the worker’s managers and colleagues.”
