Off Duty Cop Subdues Two Knife Wielding Thieves As He Gets His Teeth Treated In Dental Clinic

This is the moment an off-duty cop who was lying on a dentist’s chair as he was getting his teeth treated saves the day by overpowering two men wielding knives who had come in to rob the clinic.

A security camera captured the Military Police (Brazil’s preventive police force) officer’s heroics inside the dental clinic in the administrative region of Ceilandia in Brazil’s Federal District on Thursday, 11th November.

Footage shows how the two men arrive at the clinic and take seats in the waiting room shortly before brandishing knives and forcing an employee and a waiting patient into another room.

Footage from inside the treatment room shows the unnamed second-lieutenant lying on the dentist’s chair as a dentist treats his teeth.

After the thieves and their hostages bundle into the room, he is seen taking a piece of dental equipment out of his mouth and sitting upright.

When he realises a robbery is unfolding, he is then seen surreptitiously trying to unzip his pouch to grab his handgun.

The men order him to lie face-down on the ground, which he does, but he is still seen fiddling with his pouch, prompting one of the men to approach him with his knife raised.

However, when the man leans over him, the off-duty cop immediately tries to overpower him and a struggle then ensues.

However, the skinny thief is no match for the heavyset cop, and the struggle ends with the former lying on the floor on his back with his hands in the air and the latter leaning over him with his handgun pointed at him.

He orders the man to remain on the floor while he then goes after his accomplice, engaging in a struggle with him in the corridor before similarly forcing him to the ground.

Though it is not clear from the video footage, according to media outlets including G1, the off-duty cop shot the second man in the arm while he was subduing him in the corridor.

G1 reported that he was taken to the Hospital Regional de Ceilandia while his accomplice was arrested at the scene.

The identities of the policeman and the alleged criminals and the name of the dental clinic were not reported. It was not reported if the men were charged.
