This is the moment an elderly man kisses a nine-year-old girl on the mouth in the middle of a minimarket before leaving the store with his arm wrapped around her.

The incident was filmed by a minimarket CCTV camera in the district of Cankaya in the north-western Turkish capital Ankara and shared on social media.

In the footage, the little girl is seen wearing a black dress as she holds several bags.

A man in a white baseball cap then leans across and kisses the youngster on the mouth before resting an arm on her shoulder and leaving the store.

According to local media, the girl had just bought some bread when the elderly man, identified as P.P., approached her and kissed her on the mouth.

He then reportedly put his arm around the girl and walked out of the shop with her.

At this point, the cashier informed the local police who came to the minimarket to inspect the CCTV footage.

Upon seeing the video, officers managed to identify the suspect and went to his home to arrest him.

P.P. was then taken to a nearby station where the legal procedure is still ongoing, according to a police statement.

It is unclear whether the man and the girl knew each other before the incident.

The investigation continues.
