A 60-year-old man has had a 7-inch glass bottle surgically removed from his rectum after he allegedly used it to scratch an itch and lost it up his bum as seen in these pictures.

The patient, whose real name has been withheld, sought medical attention at Dongguan Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in South China’s Guangdong Province on 12th November.

Doctor Lin Jun, the facility’s head gastroenterologist, revealed the male patient came in complaining of discomfort in his abdomen, and that the base of the green bottle could be felt about 2 inches inside the man’s anus, a hospital report said.

The object in question was a bottle of Florida Water cologne measuring 7 inches long and 2 inches wide at its thickest point.

Florida Water, known in Mandarin as ‘hualushui’, is used among things as a perfume, a hand sanitiser or as an insect repellent.

Doctor Lin told local media: “The patient told me: ‘My abdomen hurts. There’s something inside. I can’t poo or fart.’

“The entire glass bottle was inside his rectum. I could feel the bottle under his abdomen.

“He said his anus was itching.

“He said: ‘I was very uncomfortable, so I bought a bottle of Florida Water and began scratching the itch.

“‘Then the bottle accidentally went up my rectum.’”

Doctor Lin said an operation was arranged and the glass bottle was removed from the patient’s intestines.

The 60-year-old is not expected to suffer any long-term effects from the alleged accident.

Doctor Lin, who did not reveal when the patient was discharged, added: “It’s better to seek medical attention and let a doctor help you than attempt to resolve similar conditions by buying tools and such things.”

This was not the first time a Chinese hospital had to remove a bottle of Florida Water from a patient’s rectum.

In August this year, Zhumadian Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, in Central China’s Henan Province, treated a patient who was admitted with a bottle of ‘Liu Shen’-branded cologne up his rectum.

After the patient was anaesthetised from the waist down, Doctor Jiu Junlei extracted the glass bottle on an operating table by reaching into the man’s rectum and tying a metal wire around its centre before pulling it out.

In June 2018, Chinese doctors also retrieved a bottle of Liu Shen Florida Water from a patient’s rectum, while in February of the same year medics at Dongguan’s Donghua Hospital surgically removed a 3.5-inch-wide glass sphere a 31-year-old man had inserted up his own anus.
