This is the moment an elderly woman allegedly fakes a seizure in front of stunned bus passengers after reportedly being caught paying the wrong fare and asked to get off by the driver.

According to witnesses on the route 5 bus in the town of Chuhe, which is in Yuzhou City in China’s central Henan Province, the pensioner was meant to pay 1 RMB (11 p) for the bus ride but put just 1 ‘jiao’ (1 p) – one-tenth of the amount – into the coin box.

According to reports, the eagle-eyed driver spotted the pensioner’s apparent deliberate stunt and immediately called her out, refusing to let her board the vehicle at Wuwan Station until she coughed up the full amount.

Witnesses said the woman said no and asked for her 1 jiao back, before leaning against the driver and pretending to suffer a seizure when the driver said he could not retrieve the small coin.

In the footage taken on 10th November, the woman is seen leaning against the driver and shaking her right hand in an apparent bid to fake the seizure.

She slides down onto the floor and her right hand continues to flail back and forth as witnesses in the bus struggle to contain their laughter.

According to reports, the woman was later taken away by local police, but she is not expected to be punished over the minor incident.

It is unclear whether the bus company returned her 1 jiao,
