A murdered nurse whose body was found in a Nazi communications bunker near a World War II concentration camp had a passion for bunkers and abandoned buildings which she often visited with her jealous lover now, arrested for killing her.
Police say they have evidence that 26-year-old Bianca Simone who is a mother of a young child had met her jealous on-off boyfriend Kurt L., 29, on the day she died.
Local media spoke to one neighbour who told them they had heard the unemployed man saying to her during a row: “If I can’t have you, nobody should have you.”
She was last seen in CCTV footage published several days later ras she pushed her bike at the Oranienburg train station wearing a sporting a top with the words “Hakuna matata” on it on Thursday 15th July.
She was not heard from again until her body was found in a Nazi bunker near a WWII concentration camp.
Kurt L. has since spoken out and insisted that he had nothing to do with the murder after the police arrested him about a week ago at his home in the German city of Oranienburg. He remains in custody.
Senior Public Prosecutor Andreas Pelzer reported on Tuesday (3rd August): “He maintains he has nothing to do with the crime that led to the death of the victim.”
Former geriatric nurse Bianca was found in the bunker near the Sachsenhausen concentration camp around 10pm on a Monday evening (19th July).
The bunker named ‘Karo Ass’ (Ace of Diamonds in English) is located in a forest in Oranienburg, a town in the north-eastern German state of Brandenburg, not far from the capital Berlin.
Her bicycle, which has a child seat on it that was presumably designed for her five-year-old son Can Luca, was found near the Nazi era telecommunications bunker where she was found dead.
An autopsy performed on her body later confirmed that she died violently, although no proof of a sexual offence was found.
Police officials did not reveal why Kurt L. is a suspect, but according to Pelzer “there are indications that the two of them [Bianca and Kurt] met at the time of the crime.”
Public prosecutor Torsten Sauermann revealed that the 29-year-old unemployed man was previously known to the police, but not because of violent crimes and added: “Further investigations will show whether he is the murderer.”
Since investigators have failed to find the murder weapon, which they presume is a knife, Pelzer reported: “We have to collect all the evidence and then hope to be able to convict him with it.”
Kurt L. lived about two kilometers from Bianca with a brother and his sick mother, and neighbours described him as a loner who liked to listen to heavy metal.
Investigators found out that both of them shared a passion for old bunkers and dilapidated buildings and had an on and off relationship.
A neighbour, identified as Mandy R., 38, told Bild that they argued frequently and mostly because of jealousy reasons, and remembered Kurt saying to Bianca: “If I can’t have you, nobody should have you.”
Police did not disclose the evidence against the unemployed man who was arrested for manslaughter for tactical reasons.
The investigation continues.
