This is the moment a man dubbed ‘Lady Godiva’ by netizens straddles an iconic lion statue in the centre of Sofia and pretends to ride it while stark naked.

The incident was filmed at the Sofia Court House in the western Bulgarian capital Sofia and shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Mario Metodiev’ with the caption: “A naked night rider.”

In the footage, a naked man is seen sitting on the head of the lion statue and striking poses as the cameraperson giggles in the background.

He eventually climbs down when a man approaches and shouts up at him.

It is unclear whether the naked night rider was intoxicated at the time.

The lion statues, made by sculptor Velichko Minekov, 90, were installed in 1985 and are said to symbolise the city court’s importance and authority.

Reports did not say whether the local authorities are investigating the incident.

Netizen ‘Julia Stefanova’ commented: “That is Lady Godiva, protesting the rising electricity prices and higher taxes.”

‘Lyubomir Strinski’ said: “What cheap drug was he using?”

‘Dennitsa Ivanova’ wrote: “This is not funny, it is tragic.”
