This is the viral snap of a woman’s teeth showing a pattern of tooth decay that looked like a smiley face emoji.

The CT scan image of the upset woman’s decaying teeth was shared by her online saying she wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry when she spotted the emoji-like smiling tooth grinning back at her from a row of her other teeth.

A CT scan is the abbreviation for a computed tomography scan that is a medical imaging technique used in radiology where an X-ray helps to obtain detailed internal images of the body noninvasively for diagnostic purposes, including as in this case for dentistry.

The woman, who was identified only as Ms. Ji, said she was surprised when she spotted the grinning tooth after the trip to the dentists at her home of Fuzhou which is the capital and one of the largest cities in Fujian province, in China.

It was later picked up by local media that coupled it with a warning for people to take care of their own teeth and practice proper oral hygiene, unless they also wanted to find their own teeth “smiling back at them”.
