NOT A CLEAVER MOVE: New Video Shows Deputy Fatally Shooting Armed Man On Bicycle

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department recently released body-camera footage that shows a man brandishing a large meat cleaver moments before a deputy fatally shoots him.

In the footage, the final moments of the deadly confrontation can be seen taking place on a street in Riverside County, California, in early November.

The deputy stopped the man, later identified as Kenneth Scott Wallis, because he was riding a bicycle on the wrong side of the street.

The deputy also reportedly knew Wallis had an active felony arrest warrant.

After a brief exchange during which Wallis refused to cooperate and admitted to carrying a weapon, the deputy tried to detain him.

But Wallis, who kept referring to himself as “the Antichrist”, told the deputy to shoot him before he got back on his bike and tried to ride away.

The deputy immediately ran after him and pushed him off, which led to Wallis pulling out a large meat cleaver and waving it in the air as if to throw it.

Several shots fired from the deputy’s firearm struck Wallis and caused him to fall to the ground.

CCTV footage from a nearby business released by the Sheriff’s Department also shows the shooting from a distance.

Wallis’ knife, a six-inch meat cleaver, was later reportedly recovered at the scene.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
