This is the moment two people are flung out the back of a crashing van after the driver suddenly stopped on a motorway and is rear-ended by two cars.

The accident on the Changchun-Shenzhen Expressway over the city of Huzhou, in East China’s Zhejiang Province, was captured on a traffic camera on 1st October.

In the video, the silver van driven by Mr Chen suddenly brakes in heavy traffic while in the fast lane after he realises he has driven past a slip road he was meant to take.

As he tries dangerously to cut across two lanes, his van is rear-ended by an SUV and a saloon car, causing one of his wheels to break and roll off the rear axle.

The van spins around and one of his passengers can be seen flying out the back window onto the road.

The out-of-control van then rolls backwards into a third car, causing the boot to spring open and the second passenger to be dropped onto the ground too.

Huzhou police said the two victims were taken to hospital but fortunately suffered no serious injuries.

The two men were not wearing seat belts as they had been sitting in the boot of the van, which had been illegally converted into a light goods vehicle with no back seats.

Mr Chen and another coworker in the front of the vehicle both had their seat belts on, the police said.

An investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
