Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has come under heavy criticism from Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit who said “he sh*ts on the club” and “he has no respect whatsoever”.

The comments came while Petit, 49, spoke with French-Monegasque radio station Radio Monte Carlo (RMC) Sport, where he works as a commentator, after PSG’s 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in their Champions League group stage match.

When speaking about Neymar, 27, Petit said: “He plays for himself and himself alone.

“Put yourself in the shoes of the guys in the PSG changing room, for months they put up with the whims of a guy that sh*ts on his club and on their associates. He has no respect whatsoever.”

Petit also spoke about some of the greatest footballers he shared the pitch with during his time representing France, such as Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Youri Djorkaeff.

Petit said: “They knew they were capable of deciding a match themselves, so we allowed their relaxed attitude towards defence.

“We accepted it, we did their job and covered their defensive positions because we knew we could win a match with a show of genius. This is absolutely not the case with Neymar.”

Petit spent six years in the Premier League spending three of those years at Arsenal and three at Chelsea.

He helped Arsenal win the Premier League in 1998 and won the FIFA World Cup with France in that same year after scoring the final goal in France’s 3-0 victory over Brazil in the final. He also won the UEFA European Championship in 2000.
