Germany’s Next Topmodel’ reality star Lucy Hellenbrecht has undergone gender reassignment surgery and is recovering well in hospital.
Hellenbrecht, 21, underwent gender reassignment surgery on 9 November.
The trans woman, who was born Luca but never felt comfortable in a man’s body, shared a photo of her recovering in a hospital in the German city of Munich on Instagram for her army of followers.
Many netizens have flocked to the reality star’s comments section to wish her well and tell her that they admire her strength and courage.
Hellenbrecht told her fans: “Yesterday, the surgery went very well and the doctors are very pleased.”
She added that the procedure lasted around five hours and that she was experiencing some back pain, but no discomfort in her genital area.
While recovering in her hospital bed, Hellenbrecht held a Q&A session with her Instagram followers about the procedure.
Although she did not undergo the reassignment surgery while filming ‘Germany’s Next Topmodel’, Hellenbrech said that she has no problem showing off her body during a nude photoshoot.
She added: “You would presume that I would have a problem with a nude shoot because of my genital area, but I’m generally not afraid of being naked.”
Hellenbrech said she felt confident about approaching men once she identified as a trans woman and changed her appearance.
The trans model commented: “Now I’ve built up enough confidence to appreciate that I am good looking, that I come across as a woman, that I’m authentic. And then I dared to go straight up to men.”
