This newborn baby still covered in blood was found inside a shoebox dumped near a children’s play park in Turkey.
The baby was found in the park in the district of Esenyurt, in the northeastern Turkish province of Istanbul.
According to national newspaper Bursa Hakimiyet, witnesses claim that they saw a woman leave the shoebox next to a tree.
The incident aroused their suspicions so they went to check what was inside and found the baby boy which they say still had blood on its face.
The niece of one of the women who discovered the baby, identified as İrem Nur Yucel, told Bursa Hakimiyet: “A woman with a baby entered through the back gate and took a walk inside the park. She was a woman with purple hair.
“Our aunt found that baby. She brought the baby to our cafe. I saw the baby’s face was bloody, its eyes were closed. Then the police and ambulance came.
“They took the baby, I think the tie was not cut. The paramedics took him to the ambulance. The baby was alive and he was fine.”
The child was reportedly a baby boy, who is said to be in good health and has been taken to the Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Hospital.
İrem said that her aunt has testified to the police and the case is ongoing to try and discover the identity of the mother.
