New Mum Released From Hospital After Surviving COVID Dies Without Ever Holding Quarantined Baby

A COVID-19-positive mum who was given the all-clear and released from the hospital has suddenly dropped dead before she even got the chance to hold her newborn son who had been kept in quarantine.

Marrisha ‘ReRe’ Kindred Jenkins, 27, of the city of Avondale Estates in the US state of Georgia was diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia just one month before her due date.

On 7th September, she gave birth to a boy named Jaylen, who was immediately taken from his mother and placed into quarantine as per COVID-19 guidelines.

Jaylen was Marrisha’s and her husband Myles Jenkins’ first child.

After they spent two weeks in quarantine, Marrisha and Myles were preparing to visit their newborn baby on Sunday, 19th September.

As they were getting ready to jump in the car and drive to the hospital, Marrisha stopped breathing.

She was transferred to the hospital and ended up on a life-support machine.

Helena Kindred, Marrisha’s mother, told the local news site WSB-TV that by the time her daughter made it to the hospital, her brain had suffered oxygen deprivation.

Marrisha’s family decided to have the life support switched off after being told that there was no chance of her recovering, and she was pronounced dead last Thursday (23rd September).

Helena said that she expected her daughter to have some issues due to the virus and pneumonia, but she did not believe that she would die.

She said that she wishes her daughter had got vaccinated against COVID-19, as she believes this may have saved her life.

Marrisha and Myles did not have medical insurance, so close friends and family have launched the GoFundMe page ‘In Memory of Marrisha “ReRe” Kindred Jenkins’ to help to pay for the funeral and other medical bills.
