New Images Have Emerged Of Russias State Of The Art Robot Terminator Tank Being Tested During Military Exercise

Russia has released images of its high-tech robot tank equipped with anti-tank missiles, high power flamethrowers and a machine gun known as the ‘Uran-9’ being tested during a combat exercise.

The Uran-9 is a state of the art tracked unmanned combat ground vehicle (UCGV) designed to carry out combat, reconnaissance and counter-terrorism with the ability to destroy targets as far as 5,000 metres (16,404 feet) away.

The high-tech robot tanks were in action at the Zapad-2021 military exercises which Russia carried out with its ally Belarus at the Mulino training centre in the western Russian region between 10th and 16th September.

During Zapad-2021, the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, the Uran-9 and Nerekhta reconnaissance and fire support robots were used in combat formations for the first time in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia in September 2021. For the first time, Russia deployed the Uran-9 war robot and Nerekhta Armed Unmanned Ground Vehicle (AUGV) in the Zapad military games.

The unmanned Uran-9 tank destroyed the mock enemy’s armoured vehicles division and defences during the exercise, making the most of its Ataka anti-tank missile system, PDM-A rocket-propelled flamethrowers, 30-mm automatic cannons, and its PKTM machine gun.

The robot tank, of which only 20 have so far been built, is able to destroy targets at an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 metres (9,842-16,404 feet).

The Russian military hopes that the robot tank will be able to take on tasks that would be too dangerous for humans allowing the number of casualties on the battlefield to be reduced.

The Kremlin claims that the ZAPAD 2021 (west 2021) exercise involved around 200,000 troops from Russia and Belarus and took place across several training grounds in both Russia and Belarus.

President Putin personally witnessed much of the training exercises which were widely considered to be a show of force towards NATO and the EU who have become increasingly of Alexander Lukashenko the Belarusian leader and long-term Putin ally.
