This is the moment a huge brooding tornado twists over a tiny German town wrecking houses and leaving a trail of destruction as locals say they have “never seen anything like” it.
The twister was filmed in the area of Bobenheim am Berg in the district of Bad Duerkheim in the western German state of Rhineland-Palatinate and reportedly left a trail of destruction in its wake.
Bobenheim am Berg is home to just 850 people according to 2018 census data.

According to local media, the tornado seriously damaged 11 homes, wrecked vehicles and gardens and even felled trees.
The German weather service DWD confirmed that the tornado caused a trail of destruction despite being relatively weak.
Spokesperson for the local fire service Bodo Wenngatz said: “The damage is all repairable.
“It is also great to see local residents supporting each other. Everyone has behaved as you would hope in such a situation.”
He added that around 100 firefighters attended the scene.
One resident said: “I heard a strange noise and then a roof tile smashed through my window. I took my kids down to the cellar.
Local mayor Dietmar Leist said: “I have never seen anything like this in the area, and I have lived here for 58 years.”
According to reports, one property is in danger of collapsing, but nobody was injured as the owners were not home when the tornado occurred.
A tornado is a rapidly rotating column of air that is in contact with the Earth’s surface and a cumulonimbus cloud or, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud.
