This image – which has set tongues wagging among netizens – shows a parked vehicle wrapped in wire apparently for protection by its “paranoid” owner.

The photos were taken by a bemused passerby in the western Bulgarian capital Sofia, and the images were posted on Facebook by netizen ‘Mihail Madzarov’.

The pictures show a parked car wrapped in wire with polystyrene foam apparently used to protect the paintwork of the owner’s apparently treasured vehicle.

As an additional security measure, the paranoid car owner has also fixed a lock to the steering wheel.

Netizen ‘Mihail Madzarov’ accompanied the amusing snaps with the message: “This guy must have used his last penny to buy this car.

“By the way, even the steering wheel has its own lock to prevent the vehicle from being stolen.”

Facebook users had a lot to say about the car owner’s unusual security methods, with ‘Mihail Dimkov’ commenting: “He must have taken out a huge loan to buy the car!”

‘Vlado Atanasov’ wrote: “It is always a good idea to keep your parked car safe, but don’t make it stand out like a sore thumb! What on earth are those foam things he has put all around it?”
