NET TOO BRIGHT: Deer Trapped Twice In 10 Seconds

A police officer who rescued a deer from garden netting was astonished when it got trapped again just seconds later under a canoe.

In bodycam footage of the rescue, the officer can be seen cutting the deer free from the net, with the animal apparently too tired to try to resist.

The officer speaks gently to it, telling it to calm down.

But as soon as it is cut free it runs off and immediately gets itself caught on a saw horse holding up an upside down canoe.

The officer, half amused and half frustrated, sermons the deer and tells it to calm down. He then begins talking to the deer and tells it that it is making things worse.

Eventually the deer appears to break free from the saw horse and a clatter can be heard as the footage ends, with the scared animal apparently running off.

The incident took place in the city of Ann Arbor, in the US state of Michigan, with the Ann Arbor police Department saying in a statement on Wednesday, 9th September: “Oh deer! Officer Dattolo responded to a call for assistance this morning and rescued one of our four-legged residents.

“At around 8:25 a.m., we received a call about a deer that had become tangled in some netting and was stuck in a resident’s back yard.

“Officer Dattolo was able to calmly approach the deer and cut it free from the sports netting…before again freeing it from a saw horse. The deer eventually made a safe (but frantic) exit and was happily on it’s way. While he didn’t stick around to say thanks, we are pretty sure that the deer is now Officer Dattolo’s biggest fan.
