This racist blogger – dubbed the ‘Russian Lord Nazi’ – has been sentenced to 37 years in prison for stabbing to death a 20-year-old Mexican who confronted him in Cancun.

Russian blogger Aleksei Viktorovich Makeev, 44, made international headlines when a group of local residents in the city of Cancun, in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, rounded on his house shouting “you’re going to die” in 2017.

The mob of residents were reportedly angry at the videos Makeev posted online where he was often surrounded by Nazi swastikas and allegedly called a Mexican three-year-old a “monkey” in clips which have since been removed from social media.

Reports state he had been standing on the roof of his home and insulting the locals when they arrived at his house and were threatening to lynch him.

Police arrived as the incident turned violent and one local, named as Carlos N., 20, was stabbed by Makeev who himself was rescued from the scene by the cops and taken to hospital covered in blood.

The General Prosecution of the state of Quintana Roo have now proved in court that Makeev repeatedly stabbed the victim during the violent scenes at his home. The Russian has been found guilty of homicide and sentenced to 37 years and six months in prison and he will have to pay a fine of 500,000 MXN (20,987 GBP).

Makeev has been held in pre-trial detention since May 2017. Local media report he had posted a series of videos verbally abusing Mexicans in the streets of Cancun before the attempted lynching. He has been dubbed the ‘Russian Lord Nazi’ in Mexican media.

The Russian Embassy in Mexico found no violation of Makeev’s rights during the consideration of the case.
