This is the moment a young girl is seen hanging from the burglar bars outside the window of her 7th-floor home while her grandmother holds her body to stop her from falling.

The dramatic incident was captured by residents in Zhoushan, a coastal city in China’s eastern province of Zhejiang, on the morning of 20th September.

The local fire service was called after witnesses saw and heard the three-year-old’s grandmother crying for help from the window on the top floor of the residential building.

Footage shows the elderly woman holding on to her granddaughter as the tot hangs from the rusty security bars by her armpits.

According to reports, the tot had climbed out the open, street-facing window while her nan was busy in the kitchen, before falling through the gaps between the burglar bars.

Footage shows a firefighter in the girl’s home, holding on to her from inside the window, while another rescuer abseils down from the roof.

The abseiling rescuer is able to shear off one of the metal burglar bars, creating enough space to safely lift the tot up and help her back into the room.

The girl was not harmed during the scare.

Her grateful grandmother recalled: “I was here, and she climbed out by herself. I had no idea until I noticed she wasn’t making any noise.

“I turned around and saw her dangling there. It gave me the fright of my life.”
