This is the tense moment a man in his boxers has a shootout with a pair of armed crooks as they break into his home.

The incident was caught on security cameras at the property in Franca in Sao Paulo state, south-eastern Brazil, on Tuesday, 6th December.

According to reports, a gang of six burgled the local businessman’s property while he was at home, having gained entry via a ladder.

But the unnamed man quickly realised what was going on and managed to grab his licensed handgun in the nick of time.

While four of the crooks were in another room, two could be seen in security camera images trying to shatter a glass door.

But the plucky man managed to ready his weapon while taking cover behind a wall. He then bravely stepped out and fired a shot at the pair as they broke in.

He could then be seen apparently firing another shot at the crooks, with a pane of glass coming crashing down inside the home.

The two crooks then fled along with their accomplices moments later, according to reports.

The businessman later told police that he had not received any threats before the incident.

However, he revealed that he had an ongoing legal case against an individual from a neighbouring municipality.

Police noted that the suspects did not appear to be burgling the property to rob it. They are now working to identify the crooks from the images.

The businessman was not injured in the ordeal.
