The local authorities said the body was seen being transported in a wheelbarrow by two homeless people who then left it in plain view on the side of the road.

The body was taken away for forensic analysis where doctors reported that the cause of death could have been asphyxiation.

As a result, the police are treating the teenager’s death as a case of femicide, according to the newspaper Infobae.

The commander of the Aburra Valley Metropolitan police, Colonel Daniel Mazo Cardona, said CCTV footage from the surrounding area will be reviewed to identify who left the body in the street.

Medellin mayor Daniel Quintero Calle announced on Tuesday that a reward of COP 40 million (GBP 8,136) would be paid to anyone who provides useful information about the killing to the police.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, this is the fifth case of femicide in Medellin so far this year.
