A Russian man has put up his wife’s British Shorthair pet cat for sale online for the equivalent of 185,000 GBP claiming it cures hangovers and protects against the ‘evil eye’.
Mikhail Shipunov, who lives in Rostov-on-Don in the Rostov Oblast of southern Russia, has listed the British breed on avito.com, a Russian classified ads website, saying the “mystical cat” can work miracles.
In the ad, Shipunov claims the two-and-a-half-year-old cat is friends with Domovoy, the god of the household in the Slavic pagan religious tradition.
It claims the mystic moggie “protects the house from the evil eye and troubles” and “cures a hangover” before adding “her big eyes are bewitching”.
The man further adds that in bad weather, the cat prefers sweets, as well as “paranormal Whiskas with mystical wet food”.
The ad goes on to describe the cat saying: “An active, funny cat. What else could you wish for?”
Shipunov told local media that there are two cats who currently live in his house but do not get along well, which prompted him to part with one of them.
The man added that his wife who owns the cat is not happy about her pet leaving, but for 15 million RUB (185,000 GBP), she is perhaps ready for it, despite being sceptical it will go through.
Shipunov said that several people had already called him but none have agreed to the price.
Thankfully, he also mentioned that the price is negotiable.
