Mystery Of Man Who Disappeared After Taking Dip In Med Solved After Body Washes Up Over 6 Months Later

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a man who went for a dip in the sea and never came back out has been solved, as his lifeless body has now washed up over six months later.

Mesut Cobanoglu, 59, spoke to his wife on the phone before going for a swim in Cennet Bay, located near the small resort town of Didim in Aydin Province in south-western Turkey, at approximately 3pm on Monday, 9th August 2021.

But he never came back out of the water.

After returning home late and finding that she was unable to reach her husband by phone, his wife reported his disappearance to the police.

The police found a car and clothing belonging to the missing man at Cennet Bay. The Turkish Coast Guard conducted multiple searches at sea, but they were unable to find Cobanoglu.

Now, after six months, his body has reportedly washed up in Greek territorial waters, and his wife, named as Sabriye Cobanoglu, who is the mother of his two children, has been informed.

She took to social media and said that she was heartbroken at the news.

The body was reportedly repatriated to Turkey yesterday (23rd February) and the funeral is set to take place today (24th February) at the Merkez Carsi Mosque in Germencik, also in Aydin Province.
