This is the moment a stunned motorist films the gruesome remains of a crocodile that has been killed on a Moscow motorway after the tropical reptile apparently escaped from its owner.
The croc’s dead body was found on the Yaroslavskaya Motorway near the village of Tarasovka just outside the western Russian capital Moscow.
It is believed that a lorry ran over the large reptile while it was trying to cross the motorway.
The local police are trying to find the owners of the crocodile, which typically live in tropical parts of the world.
Meanwhile, some netizens are convinced the animal must have escaped from a travelling circus while others said that it may have been thrown onto the road from a passing car.
Netizen ‘Roman Grendzhev’ joked: “Winter is approaching so it was probably time for the crocodile to migrate to warmer climes!”
‘Andrey Gaponov’ said: “What a strange country we live in, you can literally find anything here.”
‘Olel Seroglaska’ said: “I feel really sorry for the crocodile, but what if it had attacked somebody? Who would have been liable for the animal in that case? What goes around comes around, so whoever did that, karma is waiting to pay you back in kind.”
The exact subspecies of crocodile is currently unclear.
